What are conflicts? #1
• Conflicts are disagreements in ideas, beliefs, or
interests.
• Make a list of some things people could have a conflict
over. (#2)

What can cause a conflict? #3
• Act or event.
• Difference of opinion.
• Jealousy.
• Prejudice- an opinion or fear formed without having
facts of firsthand knowledge.
Table Talk- what else causes conflict? What do you think is
the biggest cause of conflict in 6th grade (#4)? What do
you think will cause conflict as you get older(#5)?

• Occur when disagreements are not settled or get out of
hand.

What do we argue about?
• Property- not respecting other people’s property.
• Clashing personalities.
• Hurt feelings:
• Jealousy
• Feeling left out
• Underappreciated
• Gossip
• Teasing/Insults

PEER PRESSURE
• Feeling pressure from classmates or friends to do something you
do not want to do or are not comfortable doing.
• Can pressure friends to argue with others rather than resolving
conflict.
• Taking sides.

DIFFERENCES IN VALUES
• Values- Beliefs that you feel strongly about that guide
the way you live.

• The key to conflict resolution is to spot conflict early.
• Disagreement- all conflict begins with this. No matter how big or
small the conflict is.
• Strong emotions- Building up of emotions over time.
• Body language and behavior- what does someone’s body
language say about them?

• Walk away, ignore, or communicate to an adult.
