The white-tailed eagle
is the largest of the
nesting birds of prey of
the Kirov region. Its
wingspan reaches 2-2.5
m. The species is listed
in the regional Red
Book and the Red Book
of the Russian
Federation.

On the territory of
the region, the view
was always rare. One
of the few known
nests of this bird is
located on the
territory of the
Nurgush Nature
Reserve. Eagles
regularly nest here,
hatch chicks and even
stay for the winter.

So this year, at the
end of January, the
white-tailed eagle
was met on the Prost
River near the beaver
dam. The presence of
open, non-freezing
areas of water in the
reserve allows this
bird to safely winter
in the conditions of
our region.
