DEFINITION
Glacier - the mass of ice of atmospheric origin mainly experiencing
viscoplastic gravity and take the form of stream flow system, dome
(shield) or a floating slab.
Glaciers are formed by the accumulation and subsequent conversion
of solid precipitation (snow) in their positive long-term balance.
This presentation presents the 9 most rapidly disappearing glaciers of
the world as of September 2015.

The Glaciers Of The Himalayas
View of the Main Rongbuk glacier and mount Everest. 1921 and 2008
–India. The Western region of the state of Himachal Pradesh. The glacier
is retreating every year almost a meter. Over the past 10 years, the
thickness of some of the glaciers has decreased by almost half.
According to some reports, the glaciers of Tibet, the Himalayas,
including Mount Everest, will disappear by 2035.

The Matterhorn
Alps. The border of Italy and Switzerland. The height of the top of 4478 meters.
Since the beginning of the observations disappeared about half the glaciers of
this famous European Top.
The glaciers of the Alps concluded 40% of Europe's fresh water. So the Alps "water tower" of Europe.

Alaska
–About
a century ago, the Muir
glacier has reached the thickness
of 80 meters in length to 3 km.
Now from the glacier remained a
small part.

6.

Greenland
The Helheim Glacier (surveillance
conducted since 1950) quickly
disappeared in recent decades.In
one 2005 Helheim Glacier retreated
more than 7 km (travel speed of
almost 20 metersper day).Quickly
melt and other glaciers of this huge
island.

7.

Kilimanjaro
–The
highest peak in Africa,
too quickly "get rid" of its
ice. Snow cap on Mount
Kilimanjaro was formed
about 11,000 years ago.
Since 1912, Kilimanjaro has
lost 85% of its stocks of
snow. Last African glacier,
scientists projected to
disappear over the next 20
years.

8.

Andes
Andean glaciers will disappear as quickly.

Peru
Corey Kalis glacier in Peru. Since the beginning of the observation
area was reduced by 25%.

And one small example - the temperature changes in the Antarctic ice:

11.

Melting glaciers - clear evidence of global warming is happening. The
consequences of this process - the environmental disasters (drying up
of rivers, raising the water level of the oceans, etc.)
