The Republic of Belarus is a small, beautiful country with a heroic past and an interesting
present. It is located in Eastern Europe. The republic borders with Russia, Ukraine,
Poland, Lithuania and Latvia.

Two thirds of the population of Belarus live in cities. There are 97 cities in the republic.
Its capital is Minsk, with a population of about 2 million people. Minsk is the 11th most
populous city in Europe. The largest cities of Belarus are Minsk, Brest, Vitebsk, Gomel,
Grodno and Mogilev.

Belarusian natural landscapes are wide plains covered with hills, many lakes and
forests. The highest place in Belarus is Mount Dzerzhinskaya (345 m) in the
Minsk region.

Another "bait" of Belarus is military tourism. Places of bloody battles, partisan
camps, mournful memorials on the foundations of concentration camps –
Belarusians not only honor their tragic past, but also willingly share it with
everyone interested

Belarus is the only European country in which the death penalty still exists.
About 1/5 of the country's territory is contaminated with radiation after the
Chernobyl accident. Belarus is one of the five largest exporters of dairy
products in the world.

Belarus is a republic with a developed science and culture.
Every eighth person in Belarus has a higher education.
