History and architecture
Yerevan has abundance of historical places like Republic
square, the Red Hill, the Erebuni Fortress. And these
places are not even a half of the fullness of significant
sites of Yerevan. Natives of Yerevan have got used to
living here, but visitors still can feel that emotion from
looking at diverse constructions such as Tsitsernakaberd
Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex, Moscow cinema
and Victory Park. These structures can tell us the whole
history of Yerevan. People such as Alexander Tumanyan
made Yerevan as we know it. The most buildings in
Yerevan are made of tuff, a light pink rock because of
this rock Yerevan is called the pink city.

Culture
Yerevan has a great cultural background. It consists of
famous singers, poets and other creative people. Such as
Eduard Harents, Eghishe Charenc, Paruyr Sevak, band
“System of a Down” and Hovhannes Shiraz. Eghishe
Charenc wrote a lot of poems. By that he supplemented
the ocean of brilliants of Yerevan culture, but “System of
a Down” has a great influence on me.
Every song of the band “System of a Down” is unique.
They have got their own style of songs. My favorite songs
are “Chop Suey!”, “Toxicity” and “The most loneliest
day”.

Atmosphere
Yerevan without its own atmosphere is like Paris without
Eiffel tower. Old men playing backgammon outdoors,
children playing war and many other things make the
atmosphere of Yerevan unique and velvety. Also people
trust each other because of a low crime rate. For
example: while you are strolling along the streets to find
entertainment you can see open entrance or open doors.
That means anyone can go into someone’s home easily. If
you get bored, you can visit your neighbors and have
some talk with them about politics, weather, no matter
what about the talk will be, it matters that you can do it
without any obstacles. If you forget your money at home
or if you don’t have enough money to buy, merchants
will leave you in debt but they will give you that you
need, no matter what.

Cuisine
The cuisine of Yerevan is very delicious and I’m lucky
that my mum is good at cooking Armenian dishes and she
is of course, from Yerevan! She can cook splendid dishes
such as tabule and dolma. I have eaten dolma and I can
assure you that it’s a marvelous dish! If you want to
learn some recipes, you can look at the next two slides.

Dolma recipe
Ingredients:
• grape leaves
• minced beef
• rice
• spices
Mix minced beaf, rice and spices in a big bowl then wrap
the mixture into grape leaves and boil everything in a
pot for an hour.

Tabule recipe
Ingredients:
• a cup of bulgur
• herbs and spices
• 100g sunflower oil
• one spoon of tomato pasta
• lemon juice
• some lettuce
First of all, pour water in a cup of bulgur and leave it for
an hour then pour the water out. Take herbs and cut
them finely. Mix all the ingredients in a big bowl, add
herbs and a cup of bulgur. Stir the salad. You can eat it
with a spoon or the dish may be served in salad leaves.
