Elizabeth II ascended the throne when
she was 25 years old. The Queen of
Great Britain is the oldest and
longest—reigning monarch in the
world. Her wisdom and optimism,
sense of humor and genuine interest in
life cannot but arouse respect.
She ascended the throne on February 6,
1952, after the death of her father King
George VI. She was 25 years old at the
time. The coronation of Elizabeth II took
place on June 2, 1953

Corgis are herding dogs from Wales. During her life,
Elizabeth had more than 30 dogs of this breed. The
first corgi was presented to Elizabeth on her 18th
birthday by her father, in 1944. Most of the pets who
later lived in the palace are descendants of this dog.
The queen was engaged in breeding corgi and even
bred a new breed — dorgi. This happened because of
a "romantic relationship" between one of Elizabeth
II's dogs and Princess Margaret's dachshund.
Unfortunately, the last corgi died in April 2018. The
dog suffered from cancer for a long time, and
Elizabeth gave her personal consent to euthanasia in
order to end the suffering of the pet.
