Tikal & Maldives

2.

Tikal
Tikal is one of the largest Maya settlements, the capital of the
Mutul kingdom. It is located in the El Peten province of
Guatemala. Tikal reached its peak of power in the classical
period. There are six tall step pyramids with temples on the
tops in the center of the city, smaller pyramids are found in
Tikal in many places.

3.

Tikal was one of the largest
Mayan cities. It consisted
of several temples, a
central square, an
acropolis, pyramids with
altars and steles, an
observatory, a prison, a ball
court, residential buildings
and other structures.

4.

• Temple I was built around 695,
• Temple III in 810,
• the largest temple-pyramid IV with a height of 72 meters was
completed by 720.
• Temple V — 750.
• Temple VI — 766.

5.

The city was built of limestone, a
soft material that quickly
collapses under the influence of
rain and wind. This is one of the
few cultural monuments that
people did not have a hand in
destroying, it was just built in
swamps from a material
unsuitable for this climate and
humidity. But tourists are also to
blame for something, who take
small stones with them as
souvenirs, contributing to the
destruction of the city.

6.

Maldives
The Maldives, located in the Indian Ocean, are considered
synonymous with quality holidays in a luxurious atmosphere.

7.

Did you want to fly to the Maldives? Do it now,
because experts say that these islands are the first
candidates for flooding due to melting glaciers,
since more than 80% of the entire territory of this
state is located at an altitude of less than one meter
above sea level.

8.

It is expected that due to
warming, the Maldives will
completely go under water by
2100, as the water level will rise
by a meter. Even if we reduce
CO2 emissions into the air, the
level will still rise by 50
centimeters, which will lead to
flooding of most of the islands.
