Who is Ivan Shishkin?

1.

Who is Ivan Shishkin?
Ivan Ivanovich Shishkin is an outstanding
landscape painter who devoted his whole
life to the glorification of Russian nature.
There are quite well-known cases when
artists were recognized as such only after
their death, but Ivan Ivanovich's name was
known during his lifetime not only in Russia,
but also abroad, and his paintings sold well.
Fame came to the artist quite early.

What about his education?
The father wanted his son to get a
good education. At twelve year old,
Ivan entered the First Kazan
Gymnasium. But already in the first
years of his studies, he became bored,
and he realized that he was more liked
to art than exact sciences. Without
completing the full course of the
gymnasium, the teenager returned
home and announced that he wanted
to be creative. His parents were very
upset by his act.

Morning in the pine forest
Initially, there were no bears on
the canvas, but the artist
Konstantin Savitsky proposed
to complement the painting
with figures of living creatures
— bears. At the request of
Shishkin, who didn’t believe in
Savitsky's ability to draw,
Konstantin depicted a family of
wild animals carelessly playing
between the roots and trunks
of fallen pines, making the
picture more dynamic. Now
this painting is in the Tretyakov
Gallery. I like this picture,
because bears on it are very
beautiful.
