Despite the fact that sloths spend most of
their lives sleeping, they manage to do a lot
of useful things. Adults carry and raise
offspring, take care of trees and become a
home for small insects. Their contribution to
the ecosystem cannot be overestimated,
although sloths are not capable of doing
anything more significant due to their
natural abilities and talents.

• Collared sloths are protected by
the State of Brazil and are listed in
the Red Book as an endangered
species. Although experts find it
difficult to name the exact number
of individuals, the intensive
deforestation of tropical forests is
having an increasingly negative
impact on the already small animal
population every day.
