2.

As you know, the term "Victorian Era" means
the period of the reign of Queen Victoria,
which lasted 64 years, from 1837 until her
death in 1901. It was at this time that the
British Empire became a major industrial and
innovative colonial power, which resulted in
noticeable changes in all aspects of life:
economic, socio-political, and value.

3.

.
In Victorian society, the institution of the family occupied an essential place, it was at this time that
the social norms and values associated with it were formed.

4.

.
People of all levels and classes had
great respect for the example set by
Queen Victoria. These values were
present and significant in various
social environments, primarily among
the aristocracy, the bourgeoisie
(super-large and large), in the middle
strata, and penetrated even into the
lower classes. People of completely
different levels tried to follow
prescribed moral and religious
guidelines.

.
Middle-class men were in no hurry to get a wife. First, they had
to reach a level of income that would allow them to provide for
their family. The husband was responsible for the financial
condition and well-being of the family. He worked hard and,
accordingly, was thought to be tired. When he returned home,
he needed peace and quiet. In British homes, as a rule, the
husband had his own office where he could devote time to
himself and the workflow.

6.

.
Middle-class women were connected with the domestic sphere:
they took care of cleanliness and comfort in the house, about
the availability of homemade treats, raised children and helped
their husband. At the same time, most of the housework was
done by the servants. The woman had to arrange dinner parties
and evenings to maintain her husband's prestige, as well as
invite new people into the house for possible economically
beneficial agreements. At the same time, she should devote
time to children, as well as engage in self-education. A
considerable part of the time was occupied by church services,
prayers and religious holidays.

7.

.
Children were an obligatory component of the Victorian family,
but the children of well-off parents spent little time with their
parents. Their education was handled by governesses. The
nannies were supposed to teach the children reading and
arithmetic. Those parents who could afford it sent their children
to secondary schools.
