1.

Presentations have three main
parts
• Introduction - tell the audience what you
are going to say
• Main part
- Say it
• Conclusion - Tell them what you said

2. Introduction

• your start ( your introduction) should
include four points:
- Who
- Why
- What
- How

3. Who Greet your guests and Introduce yourself

• the information you give about yourself and the
level of formality you use, depends on the
presentation you’re giving. For example, for a
presentation to people who know you, you don’t
need to give your name and background and
you can use informal language.
• For strangers you should give more detailed
information about your background and
experience in a more formal language.

4. Why

• Tell your audience the reason they’re here
to listen to you and the purpose of your
presentation.
• The “why” is linked to the conclusion, your
final message

5. What

• Emphasize the main points that you’re
going to develop and the order in which
you would like to give them.
• Outline the structure of your talk

6. How

• Timing
• Handouts
• Questions

7. Main part

• In the main part we develop what we said
about in “what” section of the introduction.
• We use signposts.

8. Conclusion

presentation
Summary - give a brief overview of what has
already been said.
Conclusion - This is a reflection of your “why” and
looks forward to what you want people to
do or think after your presentation.
Closing remarks - thank your audience, ask for
questions or pass round your presentation
handouts.
