• Movement in built-up areas is thefirst fundamental skill the assault
team member must master.
Movement techniques must be
practiced until they become habitual.
To reduce exposure to enemy fire,
the assault team members avoid
silhouetting themselves, avoid open
areas, and select their next covered
position before movement.
6. COORDINATED FIRES AND MOVEMENT
• CROSS-COVERING– Cross-covering security is used by the assault
forces while maneuvering in linear areas such
as streets, alleyways, and hallways
• 40-mm BREACHING
– Cross covering team is not responsible for
effecting the breach of its brother element,
however, it should communicate the location
and disposition of the breach. When possible,
the cross-covering element effects the breach
for its brother element
• ASSAULT TEAM IS THE SMALLEST
MANEUVER ELEMENT
7. COORDINATED FIRES AND MOVEMENT
• Look for your next covered position andknow where you are going before you
leave your current covered position. This
should be coordinated with the crosscovering team. Do not just randomly
move, thinking that in doing so you are
continuing momentum and speed.
• When moving outside, stay approximately
1 meter away from the walls of buildings
or other structures. Enemy bullets that
strike the wall travel down/along them.
