1.1 War.Called up to the Red Army at age 16. At the place of conscription - part of the
Trans-Baikal front, participated in the Soviet-Japanese war (August 1945,
Manchurian operation). He passed through the desert of Gobi and was in the
cavalry. From 1944 to August 1945, the territory of Inner Mongolia, controlled by
the Japanese puppet state of Mengjiang, remained a relatively quiet sector of the
front. The Neutrality Pact was in effect between the USSR and Japan, and no major
fighting took place in the region. The situation changed radically on 9 August
1945, when the Soviet Union went to war with Japan. As part of the Manchurian
strategic offensive operation, Soviet and Mongolian troops, including a horsemechanized group under the command of I. A. Pliev, rushed across the border and
invaded Inner Mongolia. The Japanese Kwantung Army and Meiji forces were
quickly defeated, leading to the elimination of the puppet state and the occupation
of the region by allied troops. Thus, all significant fighting in this territory took
place in August 1945.
