Speaking: Explain the difference between the
following.
1. A racing game and a sports game.
A racing game is specifically cars or motorcycles racing one another, sports games
are typically any other sport.
1. An RPG and an FPS.
An RPG usually involves a perspective of looking at your character from outside their
body, usually behind or above them. In an FPS, your perspective is through the eyes
of the person you are playing as.
1. A simulation game and VR.
A simulation game attempts to imitate some aspect of reality on a 2D screen. VR
creates a 3D experience.

Speaking: According to what you learned in the
video, do you think these people are addicts?
≻ Your friend plays 20 hours a week; usually about 3-4 hours each evening. They
have a good relationship with their partner, and you usually see them for a few
hours each weekend. They go to work without a problem, however, you have
noticed they seem to be gaining quite a lot of weight lately.
≻ Your neighbour’s daughter can’t seem to put her phone down. She is always
texting people, or swiping through some new app. When asked to put her phone
down, she often responds aggressively. Your neighbour recently said that her
grades are starting to drop.
≻ You started playing a video game in the last 2 or 3 weeks. You don’t normally play
games, but this one seemed interesting. You are still going to work, and seeing
your friends, but you notice that you always have your mind on the game. The last
week or so, you have noticed you are quite tired, and tend to go to bed a lot later
than usual because you are playing the game.

Grammar point: Complaints
Usually, we use the present continuous to speak about actions that are currently
happening. However, when something is a repeated action that we find annoying
and want to complain about, we can use the present continuous instead of the
present simple.
We usually include an adverb such as ‘always’, or something similar, to indicate it is a
repeated action.
≻ Here are some examples:

She always plays this new video game! = She is always playing this new
video game!

She does this all the time! = She is doing this all the time!
