and black spots.
The pirates didn't have accurate
maps. They relied on the
knowledge of captured navigators.
The black mark: This is completely
fictional.

Myth 6: Everyone had a Jolly Roger (Skull
and Bones) flag.
Skulls and bones were indeed used, but
there was no unified standard.
