Introduction
The Youth Olympic Games (YOG) is an international multi-sport event
for young athletes aged 15 to 18. The idea belongs to Johann
Rosenzopf, and it was approved by the International Olympic
Committee (IOC).

Summer and Winter YOG
Just like the adult Olympics, there are Summer and Winter Youth Games, held
every four years.
First Summer YOG: Singapore (2010)
First Winter YOG: Innsbruck, Austria (2012)
The latest Winter Games took place in Gangwon, South Korea, in 2024.

Key Features
It is not only about competition! The Games have a special Culture and
Education Programme (CEP).
Athletes learn about Olympic values (excellence, friendship, respect).
They take part in interactive workshops on healthy lifestyles and
career development.
Mixed-gender and mixed-country team events are held to build
friendships.

The World Youth Games help young talents become future Olympic champions and promote
peace and friendship among countries.
