1. The history of space flights

2. The first satellites

On the fourth of October, nineteen fifty-
seven, the first satellite was launched. A
simple metal ball with antenna whiskers, it
was called Sputnik-1. It weighed only
eighty-one kg. The satellite reached orbit
within 5 minutes and remained there for
another 92 days. During all that time, it
broadcast a sound on a specific frequency
that anyone could hear.

3. First animals in space

Before humans, animals were sent into the
unknown. The dogs Belka and Strelka, in
nineteen sixty, flew into orbit and remained
there for twenty-five hours and then returned
to Earth, proving that living and working in
orbit is possible.
Before them, in nineteen fifty-seven, there
was Laika. She did not return, but her flight
provided a great deal of knowledge.

4. First man in space

On the second of April, nineteen sixty-one,
Yuri Gagarin spent one hundred eight
minutes on the spacecraft Vostok-1. He
reached orbit and returned to Earth.
Gagarin's flight proved the possibility of a
human being in space.

5. Moon landing

From the sixteenth to the twenty-fourth of July,
Neil Armstrong launched from Earth and
landed on the Moon aboard the spacecraft
Apollo 11. Upon exiting the spacecraft, he
spoke an iconic phrase that went down in
history.
The crew placed scientific instruments on the
Moon, collected twenty kilograms of lunar soil,
made video recordings, and planted the US
flag.

6. Recent achievements in space

Launch of the most powerful
telescope, Hubble, in nineteen
ninety
Creation of the International Space
Station (ISS)
Launch of rovers to Mars in two
thousand ten
Artemis-2 in two thousand twenty-
six, a flight around the Moon
