neutral territory" ("The Spy: A Tale of the

The action of the Spy takes place during the
War of independence. The main character Garvey birch, a modest American, posing as an
ordinary peddler, and in fact collecting for the
Continental army of military information in the
territories controlled by British troops

customs of the American Indians.
