MOON

2.

Moon
The Moon is the only satellite of Earth. It
revolves on its axis as it orbits the Earth, so
that the same side of the Moon always
faces the Earth. The Moon takes
approximately 28 days to orbit the Earth. It
changes its appearance over this period.
This is because we can see different
amounts of reflected light from the Sun on
the surface of the Moon.

3.

Visibility
New Moon — Invisible (too close to Sun) except during a
solar eclipse
Waxing crescen — Late morning to post-dusk
First quarter — Afternoon and early night
Waxing gibbous — Late afternoon and most of night
Full Moon — Sunset to sunrise (all night)
Waning gibbous — Most of night and early morning
Last quarter — Late night and morning
Waning crescent — Pre-dawn to early afternoon

4.

As a rule, the full moon occurs once
a month. But sometimes there are
second full moons in a month, called
the blue moon. This is due to the fact
that the phases of the moon change
faster than a month lasts.
\We always observe the same
side of the moon. This situation
occurs due to the fact that our
satellite is in tidal capture.
