The Vladivostok is the largest in Primorsky Krai and in the
Russian Far East as a whole. It is an industrial, transport,
scientific and cultural centre, and the largest port on the Pacific
coast of Russia.
Vladivostok was founded in 1860.

• Vladivostok occupies the entire southern part of
the Muravyov-Amursky Peninsula and is washed by
the waters of the Amur and Ussuri Bays. The city has
about 20 islands within its borders. This city quickly
became an important economic and political
centre thanks to its proximity to sea trade routes
and borders with China, Korea and Japan.
Vladivostok is located at the junction of mainland
Eurasia and the great Pacific Ocean. Ship repair
and shipbuilding play an important role in industry.

The Golden Bridge is one of the five largest cable-stayed bridges
in the world. It required 42 kilometres of cables: 192 cables,
painted grey, are expected to last for at least 100 years.
The cables are the steel ropes
that wind around the structure
and make the Golden Bridge
stable, strong and secure.

Nowadays, the Golden Bridge has become a kind of symbol of
Vladivostok. This bridge connects the centre of Vladivostok
with the outlying areas.
