2.

Uganda is a state located in East Africa. The
official name is the Republic of Uganda.

3.

The state borders on Kenya in the east, South
Sudan in the north, the Democratic Republic
of the Congo in the west, Rwanda in the
southwest and Tanzania in the south. Uganda
belongs to the inland countries, ranking
second after Ethiopia in terms of area - 236
thousand km². Part of the Commonwealth of
Nations.

4.

Southern Uganda includes a significant portion of Lake Victoria,
making it part of the African Great Lakes region. The republic is
also located within the Nile basin, and has a varied,
predominantly equatorial climate.
The name of the country comes from
the kingdom of Buganda, which means
"Uganda" in Swahili. The name stuck,
because it was in 1894 that the British
used it to create a protectorate.

5.

STATE
DEVICE
Uganda is a republic under the authoritarian
rule of a single leader (president). A
unicameral parliament is in charge of
lawmaking. The legal consistency of
normative acts is controlled by the
Constitutional Court. Several political parties
are officially allowed, while a number of
opposition rebel groups operate in the
country. The capital is Kampala.
The state arose as a result of the
merger of several kingdoms,
each of them, according to the
Constitution, was granted the
status of autonomy, local power
is concentrated in the hands of
the hereditary rulers.

NATURE AND CLIMATE
Uganda is located in the northwest
of the East African Plateau, in the
African Great Lakes region, mainly
in the savannah and woodlands of
the subequatorial belt.
The surface of Uganda is a plateau
with a height of 1000-1500 m, with
individual mountain peaks
(Rwenzori massif, heights up to
5109 m). The plateau is dissected
by valleys, often swampy.
The climate is subequatorial, humid
in summer, softened by a significant
height above sea level. Average
temperatures of the coldest month
are 20 ° С, the warmest 25 ° С.

7.

The vegetation is dominated by tall
grass savannas, small tracts of
tropical forests have been
preserved.
The fauna is rich - elephants,
hippos, buffaloes, antelopes,
giraffes, lions, leopards, monkeys
are found. There are many birds
and reptiles (crocodiles, snakes),
as well as insects (tsetse fly,
malaria mosquito, etc.). There are
a
lot of in
fish
in riversthere
and lakes.
Earlier
Uganda,
were
a lot of rhinos, but as a result
of the 20-year civil war, they
were gone. The last rhino in
the wild was seen in 1983.

In the list of East African countries,
there are practically no prosperous
regions whose economy would not
depend on subsidies, foreign
investment, and imports. Uganda is no
exception; it is forced to import grain,
fuel, consumer goods, and equipment.
About a third of the population lives in
poverty.
Owning deposits of copper, gold, cobalt,
tungsten and other minerals, the state
exports mainly agricultural products
(primarily coffee and tea). Its own
industry is not sufficiently developed,
although it is impossible to call a fully
agrarian country - a network of tobacco
and textile factories, sugar cane
processing plants has been created
here.

SOCIETY
BANTU
TRADITIONAL KADODI DANCE IN
EASTERN UGANDA
The upper course of the Nile serves as the
border inhabited by peoples belonging to
the two largest linguistic groups in Africa.
To the south and southwest of the river live
people who speak the Bantu languages farmers and hunters. We are the first to
imagine them when we hear the word
"African". The names of the local Bantu
people correspond to the names of the
historical kingdoms of Uganda. In the
northern part of the country, the
possessions of the Nilots began - Acholi,
Langi, Lugbar, Karamojo and other peoples
living in cattle breeding. The Nilots have
preserved their traditional way of life, they
still wear leather clothes and bone jewelry.
Bantu historically live in the most fertile
regions of Uganda and profess Christianity
(less often Islam).

CULTURE AND
ART
The states that once existed on the territory of Uganda have left a
rich cultural heritage in the form of such works of art as national
costumes, musical instruments, amulets, wicker baskets, shields,
spears, etc. Traditional dances are often shown on stage. The
National Theater is a leading cultural center and patronizes theatrical
and musical groups. He also sponsors the Uganda National Dance
Company, which performs in the country and abroad.
