The Moscow metro is one of the largest and most interesting
metro systems in the world.

It is the world's second most heavily used rapid
transit system after Tokyo's twin subway.

without wasting time in traffic jams.

In total, the Moscow underground has 302 km of route length,
12 lines and 182 stations.

On a normal weekday it carries over 7 million passengers.

The first subway station was put into operation in 1935
with one 11 km line and 13 stations, it was the first
underground railway system in the Soviet Union.

Some of the stations are under the protection of Russian
government, as they represent the epoch of Soviet Russia,
especially the period from 1930-es to 1950-es.
