• Location: Central Europe, south of Poland and
sharing borders with Austria, Czech Republic,
Hungary, Poland and Ukraine.
• Capital: Bratislava.
• Climate: generally warm summers; cold, cloudy,
humid winters.
• Population: 5.4 million.
• Ethnic Make-up: Slovak 85.8%, Hungarian 9.7%,
Roma 1.7%, Ruthenian/Ukrainian 2,8%.
• Religions: Roman Catholic 68.9%, Protestant 10.8%,
Greek Catholic 4.1%, other or unspecified 3.2%,
none 13%.
• Government: parliamentary democracy.

3. Something that makes culture of Slovakia stand out

1) Traditional Slovak music consists of:
herbalist - choral singing without instruments
playing fujar - a traditional Slovak instrument
Orchestra: playing the violins, double bass and bass.
2) Slovak literature.

• Slovakia is proud of its rich folklore traditions. Each
region, city or village has its own character and its own
folklore, manifested in clothing, music, songs,
architecture, beliefs, dances and dialectal features of the
language.

Miyava and Detva.
