A bit of history
• The immediate predecessor of the "World
Wildlife Fund" was the "Nature Conservation
Fund" created in New York in 1947 by Henry
Fairfield Osborn. The Nature Conservation
Fund was created to support capitalistoriented environmental practices.

• The World Wide Fund for Nature is an
international public organization working in
the fields of conservation, research and
restoration of the environment. It is the
world's largest independent environmental
organization with more than 5 million
supporters worldwide, operating in more than
100 countries, supporting about 1300
environmental projects worldwide.
