Nanotechnology - a field of basic and applied science and
technology, dealing with the totality of the theoretical
substantiation, practical methods of research, analysis and
synthesis, as well as methods of production and application of
products with a given atomic structure by controlled manipulation
of individual atoms and molecules.
The term "nanotechnology" was coined by Professor Norio Taniguchi of
Tokyo University of Science in 1974.
