Dmitri Mendeleev is a Russian
chemist who developed the periodic
classification of the elements.

Biography
• Born in 1834 in the village of Verkhniye Aremzyany
• Graduated from the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics in 1855
• Developed in 1869-1871 the ideas of periodicity, introduced the concept
of the place of an element in the Periodic System as a set of its properties in
comparison with the properties of other elements.
• D. I. Mendeleev died on January 20 (February 2), 1907 in St. Petersburg.

CREATING THE PERIODIC TABLE
Mendeleev often worked a lot, as they say, "without sleep and rest."
One day he was caught by a Foreigner in an extremely exhausted state.
And in the afternoon Mendeleev lay down to rest and fell asleep. When
he woke up, he immediately wrote down the final version of the table on
a piece of paper.

THE LAST YEARS OF MENDELEEV’S LIFE
In recent years, D.I. Mendeleev has not stopped his scientific and social
activities. In 1900, he took part in the celebrations dedicated to the
bicentennial of the Berlin Academy of Sciences. Almost immediately after
that, he visited the World's Fair in Paris. From 1903 to 1906, the scientists
wrote the last works: "Cherished Thoughts" and "Towards the knowledge of
Russia". These works can be called his spiritual parting words to future
generations.
