Sergey Pavlovich Korolev was born on
January 12, 1907 (December 30, 1906 —
old style) in Ukraine, in the city of
Zhytomyr in the family of Pavel
Yakovlevich Korolev, a teacher of
literature.

His father, Pavel Yakovlevich Korolev, is a very gifted,
hardworking, but not a rich man. Mother – Maria Nikolaevna
Moskalenko, merchant's daughter. By the decision of the mother,
little Seryozha was sent to Nizhyn to his grandparents. Grandfather
and grandmother loved their grandson very much, they doted on him.

Last years of life
⚫ Sergey Pavlovich Korolev died on January 14, 1966. The untimely death of
Sergei Korolev (his heart stopped after surgery was a real tragedy for both
domestic and world cosmonautics.
⚫ The funeral with state honors took place on Moscow's Red Square. The urn
with the ashes of S.P. Korolev is buried in the Kremlin wall.
⚫ Monuments to S.P. Korolev have been erected in many cities of Russia and
Ukraine. In the study of the Moon, the world community assigned his name
to one of the large ring–shaped mountain formations on the Moon thalassoid.

if there are qualities: determination, sense of duty,

is one of them.
