Why I chose this plant
This presentation focuses on plants that can
be used in landscape architecture. As an
example, I decided to choose a peony. Why?
The answer is simple, given their individual
characteristics it is the best option.

3.

Since peonies are generally
considered to be dominant
plants, it is important to
select color-matched
varieties, so as not to get
some coloristic dissonance.
In this slide, I decided to demonstrate the
individual characteristics of peonies :
Early varieties of peonies
begin to bloom in late May
and decorate the site with
gorgeous buds for about 2
weeks.
• At the steel time of the season,
blooming peonies become a pretty
backdrop for other flowering
perennials, maintaining their shape
from spring until frost.
• Peonies really like adequate light and
space - this is also something to
consider before choosing a garden
location.
• After the peonies have bloomed, it is
recommended to perform bud pruning,
then in the next season the seedlings
will please with abundant and highquality blooms.
Garden peonies can grow in the same
plot for several years
The most popular and unpretentious
species to grow are medicinal, milkflowered and hybrid peonies.
Varieties of peonies differ in height and
size of the bush, shape and diameter of
flowers, flowering dates and colors.
That is why for harmonious use in
landscape design, it is necessary to
determine the ideal varieties
specifically for your site.

There are three kinds of peonies:
Ito-hybrids
Tree peonies
By the name of the group it is clear that
it was specially bred. It was made by
breeder Toichi Ito in Japan in 1948. In
fact, this group of peonies turned out
because of the breeder's desire to breed
a yellow variety of herbaceous peonies.
One of the basic features of tree-shaped
bush peonies is that they grow yearround, just like trees. The blooming
period occurs in the spring and lasts until
fall. After a while, their stems even
become something like tree trunks. A
bush of tree peony can grow to a height
of up to 2 meters, and at about this point
buds bloom on it.
What kinds are there?
Herbaceous peonies
The maximum height of peonies of
this group is 1 meter. The stems in
this case are no longer similar to
tree trunks - on the contrary, they
are characterized by softness, after
a while they grow more and more
leaves.

5.

What do peonies need to grow
well?
Humidity:
Light:
This variety of peony prefers
bright light, so choose a
location where it will receive
plenty of sunlight.
tree peonies prefer medium
humidity, so regular
watering and moderate
humidity levels are
important for them.- .
Temperature:
Soil:
The plant is soil-demanding,
preferring fertile, welldrained soils with a neutral
or slightly acidic pH
reaction.
tree peonies tolerate cold
winters well, but need a
fairly long cold dormancy
period for successful
flowering. The optimum
temperature for this variety
is about 20-25 degrees
Celsius in summer and
about -5 degrees Celsius in
winter.

6.

Where is the best place to plant?
The planting site should be sunny or
with a diffused penumbra. Here the
plant takes root perfectly and will
delight with lush blooms.
It is desirable to plant peonies at a
distance of 2-3 m from the nearest
buildings or under the cover of large
shrubs: flowers do not like strong winds
and it is better to reduce the risk to a
minimum.
