The Republic of Khakasia is situated in the
south of Eastern Siberia. It covers an area of 61
thousand square kilometres.
Dates:
The eighteenth century – Khakasia joined
Russia.
Nineteen thirty – Khakasia was an autonomous
region.
Nineteen thirty four - Khakasia became a part of
Krasnoyarsk Territory.
Nineteen ninety one- Khakasia became a
republic.

Demographic survey in Khakasia.
The population of RK on 01.07.2003 is
570,9 thousand people.
Unfortunately we can say that the
population of Khakasia is decreasing.

In Khakasia there are four theatres. We
celebrate Theatres‘ Day on the twenty sixth of
March.
1.Khakas National Drama theatre named after A.
M. Topanov‘s (the first Khakas stage -manager )
2.Russian Drama theatre named after M. U.
Lermontov (founded in nineteen thirty
nine )
