The Globe
In 1599, Shakespeare founded the Globe
Theater with 6 other associates. «The
Globe» was a summer theatre situated on
the bank of the Thames. The building was
round. The galleries and the stage had a
roof over them, but the pit was open to the
sky. There were two doors. A sing of
Hercules with the globe on his shoulders
was displayed in front of the main door.
The Latin words were written there: «All
the world is a stage». A flying flag was
there on the top of the theatre during the
performance. Performances always began
at three o’clock in the afternoon and lasted
for three hours. The stage had three floors.
At the end of the performance clowns
appeared and enjoy the spectators.
