General tips:Breathe deeply to fight the stress and to calm down. Breathe through your
diaphragm. To fight the anxiety focus just on breathing right before your speech.
It is not necessary to write the entire speech down. This is ment to be speaking
exercise – not reading out loud your notes. Do not read word by word from your
script.
Know your presentation and its content better than anyone. Do not memorize it –
know it! Prepare yourself and be prepared for answers. Memorizing the
presentation word-for-word is going to limit you in being open and flexible to
changes.
Do not create a text heavy presentation. People cannot read and listen at the
same time – use pictures anytime is possible.
Confidence = Preparation: you can only speak as well as you have practised.
Make audience members feel interested by listening to you – make them want to
pay attention. Mention an interesting fact, or a surprising statistics to get people´s
attention.
Smile! When you smile your brain releases hormones (neuropeptides) that actually
reduce your stress levels.
