Charles Darwin developed the theory of evolution,
explaining the origin of species through natural
selection. The main ideas were presented in his book
“On the Origin of Species “ (1859).
During his voyage around the world (1831–1836), he
collected specimens and observed differences between
species, particularly on the Galápagos Islands. These
observations led him to conclude that species change
under environmental influences.
