during winter. The sled is
pulled by a team of dogs,
usually huskies, which are
strong and resistant to
cold.

tourism.
• They are popular
because they connect
people with nature and
snow traditional ways
of life.

• Funiculars appeared inthe 19th contury in
Europe.
• They were created to
help people move easily
up and down steep hills.

• A funicular has two carsconnected by a cable –
when one goes up, the
other goes down.

areas, for example in
Switzerland or Italy.
