The Moscow Kremlin
And Red Square
At the very heart of Moscow lies the
Kremlin, a fortified complex that
serves as the official residence of
the President of Russia . Its red
brick walls, shaped in an irregular
triangle, enclose historic cathedrals
and palaces. The tallest of its 20
towers is the Troitskaya Tower, but
the most famous is the Spasskaya
Tower, which features the country's
iconic Kremlin chimes.
Just outside the Kremlin's walls is
Red Square, the city's most famous
plaza. This bustling square is home
to the colorful, onion-domed St.
Basil's Cathedral, the grand GUM
department store, and the State
Historical Museum, making it a living
museum of Russian history.

The State Hermitage
Museum, St.
Petersburg
Located in the heart of St. Petersburg, the
Hermitage is one of the largest and oldest art
museums in the world. Its main complex
consists of five magnificent buildings, with the
green-and-white Winter Palace being the most
prominent . Originally established in 1764 as a
private collection for Empress Catherine the
Great, it was opened to the public in 1852 .
Today, its collection boasts over three million
works of art and artefacts, including
masterpieces by Leonardo da Vinci and
Rembrandt.

Lake Baikal
A true natural wonder, Lake
Baikal in eastern Siberia is the
deepest and oldest freshwater
lake on the planet, estimated to
be around 25 million years old . It
holds roughly 20% of the world's
unfrozen surface fresh water,
making it the largest reservoir .
Its pristine waters are home to
hundreds of unique plant and
animal species found nowhere
else on Earth, most famously the
Baikal seal, the only freshwater
seal in existence . The lake's
breathtaking scenery, from its
rugged shores to its surrounding
mountains, attracts visitors yearround.

The Peterhof
Palace
Often referred to as the "Russian Versailles,"
Peterhof is a stunning imperial palace and
park ensemble located just outside St.
Petersburg . It was commissioned by Tsar
Peter the Great as a direct rival to the French
palace. The estate is world-famous for its
magnificent gardens and, above all, its more
than 150 operating fountains . The centerpiece
is the Grand Cascade, a spectacular waterfall
of fountains in front of the Grand Palace,
making Peterhof the capital of the Russian
fountains .

The Kizhi
Pogost
On a small island in Lake Onega
stands the Kizhi Pogost, a
breathtaking architectural
ensemble that defies logic. It
consists of two striking 18thcentury wooden churches and an
octagonal bell tower . The main
church, the Church of the
Transfiguration, is crowned with
22 domes and was built entirely
of wood without the use of a
single nail, following ancient
Russian carpentry traditions .
This UNESCO World Heritage site
is a remarkable testament to
human ingenuity and spiritual
devotion.
