Relevance
The relevance of this topic stems from the fact that songs make language
learning more engaging and effective. They help improve listening
comprehension and expand vocabulary. The use of music promotes motivation
and knowledge retention. This is essential for improving the quality of English
language learning.
Problem
Many students struggle with listening, acquiring real-world vocabulary, and
maintaining motivation. Traditional methods can seem boring. Contemporary
authentic music is a powerful, emotionally charged, and accessible resource that
surrounds us everywhere, yet its educational potential is often exploited
haphazardly.

4.

The purpose of the project is to identify the key benefits and potential
challenges of using songs in teaching
Hypothesis
The systematic and targeted use of English songs in class and self-study
significantly increases the effectiveness of vocabulary and grammar acquisition,
improves listening and pronunciation skills, and enhances students' intrinsic
motivation.

5.

Psychological foundations of music perception
The psychological foundations of music perception show that music is a
powerful tool in the English language learning process. It helps evoke positive
emotions, improve memory, increase motivation, and develop auditory
perception. All these factors contribute to more effective and enjoyable learning,
making the language acquisition process more engaging and productive.
Because of these characteristics, songs and music in general occupy an
important place in foreign language teaching methods, especially in the
beginning stages.

6.

Examples of successful methods
Successful methods for using songs in English language teaching are based
on a combination of different approaches: expanding vocabulary, developing
listening and pronunciation skills, exploring cultural aspects, and stimulating
creative thinking. These approaches make the learning process more varied
and engaging, which contributes to more effective language acquisition. It is
important to consider the students' level of preparation and select appropriate
songs so that each student can fully realize their potential and enjoy the
learning process.

7.

Conducting a social survey
As part of a study on the role of songs in learning English, a social
survey was conducted among 25 schoolchildren to determine
whether the use of songs effectively helps them master English
vocabulary and pronunciation.
The survey consisted of five questions as follows:

8.

• 1. How often do you listen to English songs?
• Every day – 10 students (40%)
• Several times a week – 9 students (36%)
• Less often – 6 students (24%)
• 2. Do you use songs to learn English?
• Yes, regularly – 15 students (60%)
• Sometimes – 8 students (32%)
• No – 2 students (8%)
• 3. What aspects of English do you improve by listening to songs?
• Vocabulary — 12 people (48%)
• Pronunciation — 9 people (36%)
• Grammar — 4 people (16%)
• 4. Which songs help you remember words better?
• Yes, a lot — 18 people (72%)
• A little — 6 people (24%)
• No — 1 person (4%)
• 5. Would you like to use songs more often in the learning process?
• Yes — 20 people (80%)
• No — 5 people (20%)

9.

Conclusions from the social survey
Most students express a desire to use songs more frequently
in the learning process, demonstrating a high appreciation of
this method and its potential to enhance motivation and
learning effectiveness. This attitude suggests that musical
materials are perceived as an interesting and useful way to
learn the language, facilitating a more active and conscious
approach to learning English. Overall, the survey results
confirm the importance and relevance of using songs as a
teaching tool and show that this method can become part of
a comprehensive language training system.

10.

Conclusion
Overall, it can be concluded that providing supporting
materials in the educational process is essential to achieve
the best results in English language learning. Songs not only make
learning more varied and engaging, but also facilitate deeper
learning of language material, which is especially important
in today's educational environment. Therefore, using songs in
teaching is a promising and effective method that can
significantly improve the quality of English language learning
and make it more accessible and engaging for students.
