2. Geological Field Practice

This summer, I took part in a geological field
practice organized by my university.
Although my major is not related to geology,
the practice is mandatory for all students.
During the trip, we visited quarries, natural
parks, ravines and other geological sites.
Our main tasks were to observe the local
geology, collect fossils and rock samples, and
keep field journals.

The geological practice was actually
quite an unexpected surprise. By that
point, we had already passed our another
internship related to our own field of
study. It was not the easiest or most
enjoyable experience, but it was
definitely memorable. So, after already
spending some part of the summer on
our first internship, I did not expect to
spend another one on travelling around
quarries and looking for fossils. Its one of
those things you do just so you can tell
your children about it someday.

The geological practice was
probably the most eventful part of
my summer. Compared to it, the
rest of my summer was pretty quiet:
I mostly hung out with my friends,
went for walks, and spent quite a lot
of time playing computer games.
So, while the practice involved
travelling to different places,
collecting fossils and spending
whole days outdoors, my other
summer activities were
considerably less adventurous.
