At the first stage, coffee beans are harvested
and then dried in the sun. Following this, they
are roasted and ground into powder.

The diagram below shows the manufacturingprocess for making sugar from sugar cane.
Summarise the information by selecting and
reporting the main features, and make
comparisons where relevant.
You are expected to be able to make verbs
from nouns and nouns from verbs:
harvesting - to harvest
crushing - to crush
evaporator - to evaporate
When describing the stages - use Passive Voice
using the Present Simple tense.
Ex.: Sugar canes are harvested.

You are expected to be able to use common
sense describing any diagram (i.e. say why or
what for something is done).
Without this, it would be very hard to write 150
words.
Ex.: The next step is when the juice is purified so
that to get rid of different unwanted particles.

BP1
To begin with, 12-18 months are needed
for a sugar cane to grow before it can be
harvested. Then, the crop can either be
collected with a machine or by hand. The
next step is when the sugar canes are
crushed in a special machine to produce
juice, which is then purified using a
limestone filter so that to get rid of all the
unwanted particles.

BP2
Next, while the purified juice is heated in
an evaporator becoming syrup, it is
centrifuged in order to separate sugar
crystals. After this stage is complete, the
sugar needs to dry and cool before it is
ready for use.
