My favorite movie saga
A romantic fantasy story about vampires, humans, love, family and
difficult choices. Based on the novels by Stephenie Meyer, the saga
consists of five movies released between 2008 and 2012.
The story follows Bella Swan, a teenage girl who moves to the small
town of Forks, Washington. There, she meets Edward Cullen, a
mysterious student who turns out to be a vampire. Their relationship
becomes complicated when Bella discovers the supernatural world
around him.
The story combines romance, fantasy, danger and coming-of-age
themes.

4. CASTING FACTS

• Kristen Stewart was not originally chosen
immediately. Director Catherine Hardwicke met her
while she was working on another film and was
impressed by her screen presence.
• Robert Pattinson also had to audition for Edward. His audition with
Kristen Stewart helped convince the director that they had the right
chemistry.
• Interestingly, other actors were considered for Edward, including
Henry Cavill and Ben Barnes.
• Taylor Lautner almost did not return as Jacob for the second movie.
He underwent intense physical training to prepare for the role

5. THE VISUAL STYLE

One of the most recognizable things about Twilight is its atmosphere.
The visual style makes Forks feel isolated, mysterious and almost dreamlike.

7. REAL LOCATIONS

Although the story takes place in
Forks, Washington, much of the
first movie was actually filmed in
Oregon and Washington.
Some recognizable locations include:
• Portland, Oregon — the Cullen house and several interior locations
• St. Helens, Oregon — Bella's house
• Ecola State Park — La Push Beach
• Columbia River Gorge — the famous tree-climbing scene

8. WHY I LOVE THE TWILIGHT SAGA

I love its atmosphere,
cinematography, music and
unique visual style.
The forests, cloudy weather,
colors and slightly unreal feeling
make the movies recognizable
from the first few seconds.
The saga also reminds me of a
specific era of cinema and has a
very distinctive aesthetic that is
difficult to recreate today.
At first, watching Twilight was more of a joke
between my friends and me. We watched it
ironically, laughed at the dramatic moments
and never expected it to become something
meaningful.
But over time, it turned into a tradition.
Now, Twilight is strongly associated with
autumn, rainy weather, cold evenings, its
unique aesthetic and that special feeling of
nostalgia and melancholy that comes with this
time of year.
Every autumn, my friends and I rewatch the
movies together. So now Twilight is not just a
movie saga that I like — it has become a part
of our autumn tradition and a small reminder
of our friendship.
