My name is Irina. I am ten.
I live in Kotelniky, but I study
in Lyubertsy, at school
number forty-four.
I am good at reading .
I am interested in different
school subjects such as
Russian, Literature and
English.
I go in for sports and every
day I play basketball.

3. I like reading in English. And this year I have read the book «THE MAGIC OF OZ».

«The Magic of
Oz» was written
by Lyman Frank
Baum. He wrote
this book in 1900.
But in Russia the
story was
published only in
1983.

5. The plot of this story is well-known to Russian people because Alexander Volkov retold it to us with some changes.

6. THE PLOT OF THE STORY

Dorothy is a little
girl who lives
with her Aunt
Em and Uncle
Henry in a small
house, in Kansas
prairie.

7. After a cyclone transports her and her dog Toto to the Land of Oz, she must seek out the Emerald City, where the Great Wizard lives. Dorothy has to do it in order to return at home.

8. THE MAIN CHARACTERS On her way to the Emerald City Dorothy finds many friends such as the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman and the Cowardly Lion.

9. Each of them has a dream: the Scarecrow wants to have brains, the Tin Woodman wants to get a heart, the Cowardly Lion wants to be brave and Dorothy wants to get back to her Aunt Em and Uncle Henry.
