Kazan is the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, the
port city is located on the left bank of the Volga River
in the place where the Kazanka River flows into it,
which divides the city into two approximately equal
parts. The official 1000-year anniversary of the city was
celebrated in 2005.

The oldest landmark of the city is the Kazan
Kremlin. It officially included UNESCO in the
list of World Heritage sites. On its territory is
the Spasskaya Tower and the Annunciation
Cathedral, as well as the official residence and
office of the President of Tatarstan.

In 2005, the construction of the Kul-Sharif mosque
was completed on the territory of the Kazan
Kremlin. A separate story exists at the falling tower
Syuyumbike. According to legend, Queen
Syuyubmike jumped from the tower, not wishing to
obey the conqueror of Kazan.

The city center is a continuous set of attractions. Here
you can walk along the pedestrian street of Bauman, it
is called the Kazan Arbat

Other important attractions are new sports facilities,
most of which have already been built and put into
operation for the Universiade and the subsequent
development of sports in the republic.
