Since 2015, issues to do with passage

major concern for AMSA.

BE PREPARED FOR PSC INSPECTIONS.
Always observe the following:
When PSC inspectors board the vessel:
a. Meet them at embarkaton
b. Ask for I.D.s (as per the ISPS code)
c. Escort them to the Master’s ofce.
Request for an opening meetng,
even if not ofered.
Introduce your Key Ofcers, and ask
for the same courtesy in return.
Identfy their Lead Inspector. If they
are on duty, this must be mentoned
to the PSC inspectors.

inspecton procedure. If not, ask for
an explanaton.
Identfy each key ofcers who will
escort the PSC inspectors in each
areas of inspecton.
Note 1: Key offecs must be pcofessional and

pactfulacly the emecgenfy fce pump emecgenfy
genecatoc and emecgenfy steecing geac.

BE PREPARED FOR PSC INSPECTIONS.
Always observe the following:
As soon as possible, request
notfcaton of irregularites in order
to implement correctons on the spot.
In case of major defciencies, contact
the Company on the spot before the
PSC inspectors fnalizze the report.
If the defiieniies or observatons
are irew-related and unjustfed,
iontait Marlow while the PSC
inspeitors are stll onboard.

conditon to the PSC inspectors.
Request for a closing meetng and
listen carefully. Compare it to what is
writen in the report, and ask
clarifcaton if needed. Ensure by
directly inquiring:

A good frst impression of an orderly ship deireases the risk of an expanded detenton.
Startng from the Gangway leading to the Master’s ofce,
everything must be orderly, clear, tdy and presentable.
Records must be organizzed and readily available.
Have a high standard in personal appearance.
Vessel’s topside and engine room must be clean and orderly.

Even when there are defeits, it is possible to prevent a detenton.
Cultural awareness might help prevent possible detentons.
Act with diplomacy.
Understand your counterpart’s concerns.
The Crew, Company, Recognizzed Organizzaton, and Flag must
be proactve and show that they have identfed the defect
and are taking appropriate correctve acton.
