John Ronald Reuel
Tolkien
Known by his pen name J. R. R. Tolkien, was
an English writer, poet, philologist, and university
professor who is best known as the author of the
classic high-fantasy works. The beginning of his
writer’s fame was book, named
The Hobbit, or There and Back Again

The original purpose of writing "The Hobbit" Tolkien wanted to entertain his small children. Unfinished
manuscript is read only by close friends of the author,
and, ultimately, it falls into the hands of the editor of the
London «Allen & Unwin», which asks the writer to
complete the story and draw the illustrations. The first
publication of "The Hobbit" was released on September
21, 1937 in the UK. This is the first published work, which
reveals the universe of Middle-earth, on which Tolkien has
been working for more than twenty years. It meets a
critical success and brings great profit that motivates Allen
& Unwin, to ask Tolkien to continue. More success and
fame was continued - "The Lord of the Rings" is
undoubtedly a much more somber and serious work, in
comparison with "The Hobbit." For consistency between
the two books, Tolkien makes a change to the text of "The
Hobbit".

In this book, author tells us about life in his world
Middle-earth and follows the quest of home-loving
hobbit Bilbo Baggins to win a share of the treasure
guarded by Smaug the Dragon. Bilbo's journey
takes him from light-hearted, country surroundings
into more dangerous lands around his town Shire. I
think everyone knows what happened there exactly
because of movie “The Hobbit”. But if you still
weren’t involved in this beautiful story I’ll tell a little
about it.

5.

This is very briefly retelling of the plot.
Action in this book happens in world Middle-Earth, full of creatures
from fairy tales and myths - dwarfs, hobbits, trolls, elves. The main
character, hobbit Bilbo - middle age, rustic homebody. Coerced by
wizard Gandalf, he goes in dangerous adventure with couple of
dwarfs. They want to get back the treasure of their ancestors taken by
evil fire breathing dragon. On their way they will meet many dangers
like trolls-rogues, groups of goblins, and even dragon looks to be not
a peaceful lizard. But because of the courage, skill and ingenuity of
the hero and his companions as well as through their many friends, all
the adventure ends happily, the dragon is defeated, the invasion of
goblins stopped, and the protagonist is sent to his home, along with a
small proportion of treasures and magic ring.

Elaboration of the Tolkien world admires. Even taking into
account the fact that he worked on the huge amount of time,
amazes imagination and clearly unusual mind of the author.
Were created huge number of prototypes of beings inhabiting
these lands. Tolkien told the history of the world virtually from
scratch, with the involvement of the higher mind and the
celestials. This hardworking and thoughtful man even created
several languages spoken by intelligent creatures like dwarves,
elves and even vargs (wolves with mind).

In the end I want to say...
I like this book!
Really, it’s one of the awesomest stories i’ve ever
heard.
I read this book many years ago and now, when I
repeated immersion in this magic world, I can
say - all the various feelings that I felt in first time
are still brightful and fresh in the second time.
If you didn’t read this Book or you read it a long
time ago (even if this “long time” is three or four
years) you NEED to read it.
