What is steampunk?
Steampunk – the style in which are used elements
of the Victorian age costume, leather, gears,
watches and steam engines.

• This subculture appeared a long time ago, in the
20th century.
• The word «steampunk» appeared in 1987.
• Since the mid-1990s, the steampunk subculture
began to form

Alternatively-historical
steampunk
It shows the life in human society of the second
half of the XIX — early XX century, but with some
stylistic features.

Fantasy steampunk
In this kind of steampunk, a human of the steam
engine era lives next to numerous fabulous
creatures.

Clockpunk
While other types of steampunk are inspired by
steam engines, there are more complex
mechanisms based on clocks.

The characteristics of
steampunk style are:
• The urban entourage of the Victorian era;
• The costumes of the characters connecting to the spirit
of industrial society (luxurious dresses of ladies,
tailcoats and top hats of men).
• Gears and other mechanical parts;
• Imitation of various mechanisms.
