My favourite book
• A Hero of Our Time is a novel, written in 1839 and published in 1840.
It is an example of the superfluous man novel, noted for its
compelling Byronic hero (or antihero) Pechorin and for the beautiful
descriptions of the Caucasus.

5.

The main characters
• The main character is Pechorin, one of the first European characters
of contradiction that is divided between being tired of pleasures but
still unable to love and settle down. He thinks that happiness does
not exist for him. He is a Byronic hero. Other main characters are
Maxim Maximovich, Vera, Princess Mary, Bela.

6.

The setting of the novel
• The time and place of the plot is the 18th century in a small
fisherman village and later on in healing springs.

The meaning of the novel
• The novel tells about a complex personality, about a man in whose
hands the fate of an entire era. The work depicts the difficult fate of
the hero, who had to go through a lot. But even after all that he was
able to go through, he remains strong and unbroken. The theme of the
novel was also the disclosure of all the beautiful sides of the hero.
The task of the author was presented in order to reveal the whole
essence of the main character during all the actions taking place, to
present it from a completely different side.
• Each person has his own point of view, and thereforethe meaning of
the novel is different for everyone. For some, the point is that one
should not rush to conclusions, for others, the point is that fate
cannot be outwitted.

The reason I like the book
• Mikhail Yurievich Lermontov did not write a singlenotes or notes
about what exactly prompted the idea to write a novel, which to this
day is popular not only among the elders, but also among young
people and even abroad. Of course, this novel may seem complicated
and confusing, but this masterpiece is worth spending your precious
time on. It is worth remembering that the meaning of the title of the
novel "A Hero of Our Time" is consonant with the main idea. After
reading this novel, you will realize a lot and, possibly, change your
worldview. This novel will be useful for both the older generation and
the younger.
