THE EXTERIOR
Cars of the future will lose their typical appearance
and will look like spaceships, as well as get a rounded
body shape. This is done to increase mileage and
reduce the number of battery charges or refueling, so
weight and reducing the level of aerodynamic drag are
very important.

The interior of the car will change dramatically, we will
no longer see the dashboard, as well as no switches,
levers and control buttons. All this will replace a large
tablet or voice assistant.

Audi presented the Icon model at the Frankfurt Motor
Show, which it plans to start producing by 2030.
There is room for two passengers in the cabin — and
no switches, levers and transmission tunnel.

Self-driving cars are being improved.
The international community of automotive engineers divides
autopilot in cars into six levels:
•Level 0 — lack of automation.
•From the 1st to the 4th level - cars with "assistants" for
autonomous driving. For example, adaptive cruise control,
braking system in front of an obstacle, lane control.
•Level 5 — full automation. The car can drive in any
conditions without the presence of a driver.

UNDER THE BONNET
90% of cars will be electric in the future, and more
and more well-known automakers in the world declare
their intention to abandon internal combustion
engines.
The production of batteries for electric cars will also
become more affordable. Due to the development of
technologies in the manufacture of batteries, nickel
costs are predicted to be reduced by 20%, lithium by
50%, and cobalt by 75%. Also, 20-65% of these
metals can be obtained by recycling batteries that
have exhausted their resource.

THE CAR OF THE FUTURE - MERCEDES
Mercedes-Benz presented a prototype of the car of the
future. Instead of a steering wheel, the Vision AVR is
equipped with a central controller that can be controlled from
the passenger seat. The machine recognizes the owner by
fingerprints when a person puts his hand to the joystick.
Thanks to the fully controllable chassis, the Mercedes of the
future can turn four spherical wheels in one direction, which
allows the car to move at an angle of 30 degrees.
The model is equipped with an electric power plant with a
capacity of 476 hp and 110-kilowatt batteries, fully
recyclable. The power reserve is designed for 700 kilometers.
