LOADING RACK
Loading Rack (continued)
• Meters & Accessory Equipment
– Multiload unit is used to initiate and monitor loading and maintain
product quality. Any out of spec blends will be identified and will not
print a bill of lading. Driver will instead get a document with wording “
Processing Failed –Contact Office”. If this occurs, contact Terminal
Operations Unit (TOU) for assistance.
– If loading should fail on an arm try to re-start on the same arm that
loading began with. If unable to re-start, remove load arms/overfill
protection and contact terminal staff or TOU for assistance.
• Additives:
– Required additives will be injected during loading based on Product
Select Code ( PSC ) and customer number used. System monitors
product loading and blending to maintain quality.

Emergency Response
• Alarms
– All alarms are to be responded to in the appropriate manner.
• Procedures for responding in the event of an emergency
– If alarm is heard, survey area to determine hazard, If safe to do so stop
loading, remove load arms/ overfill protection and report to muster point.
Leave truck as is. If situation is unsafe leave area immediately for
muster point. Shut down loading using ESD button located in drivers
room if safe to do so.
– Muster point may need to change depending on location and extent of
incident.
– Wait for direction from emergency services or terminal staff. Do not
leave site without notification. All personnel need to be accounted for.
– Product flow can be stopped by either using STOP button ( slower shut
down local to only that specific load unit) on MultiLoad units, ESD
buttons (immediate shut down of all terminal loading/offloading) or by
closing tagged supply valve ( notify terminal staff immediately if closing).

• Always Put Personal Safety First:
– If trained and confident in use, fire extinguishers are available at the
loading racks and terminal office. Trailers / Units must also be equipped.
– Do not over estimate capabilities. Evacuate area if necessary.
– Do not put yourself in harms way.

OFFLOADING PROCEDURES
Off-Loading
• Ethanol Off-loading
• Truck Positioning
– Truck is to be positioned at the off-loading rack. Spill containment below
off-loading area is for emergency use only. Ethanol, fuel and waste are
not to be allowed to enter the spill containment intentionally.
• Shutdown Procedures
– If the need for emergency shutdown is required the ESD button will shut
down off-load pump immediately.
• Off-load Procedures
– Detailed operation for the operation of the Ethanol Off-load system are
posted at the pump pad and will be covered during driver orientation and
training.

Specialty Product Loading
• Specialty products – Lubricant, Slop, Commingle
– Lubricant and Additive shipping/receiving during staffed hours only
Monday through Friday.
– Commingle/Transmix can be loaded 24/7 using regular loading, preauthorized badge access.
– Slop loading will available during regular staffed hours Monday through
Friday.

POLICIES
Site Specific Policies (2 of 5)
• Never climb on top of your truck, If top access required use
top load rack and stay within fall protection.
• No backing without an Imperial Oil spotter. After hours
another driver may be used.
• Do not block gates, observe traffic patterns.
• Cab windows up during loading.
• Do not open cab / bunk doors while loading.
• Never leave with an off-spec load.
• Always contact terminal staff or TOU if problems arise.
• Report all spills, incidents, injuries and near misses
immediately.
• No repairs or towing of vehicles to be made onsite without
terminal authorization.
• INTENTIONAL DAMAGE TO IMPERIAL OIL FACILITIES WILL
RESULT IN IMMEDIATE LOCKOUT.

POLICIES
Site Specific Policies (3 of 5)
• Trucks must wait outside 50 foot area indicated by yellow
double line when staging to load.
• Driver must wait with their unit and not enter load rack area to
“socialize” Drivers must remain focused on task at hand and
minimize distractions.
• Drivers are not allowed to drink or eat at the track rack.
• MSDS book, loading instructions, eyewash station, phone,
incident report forms, fire extinguisher, washroom and driver
communications are available in the drivers room.
• Loading arms are not to be extended past 90 degree angle at
top swivel to prevent damage or injury. Load arms need to be
returned to parked position with care to avoid damage.
• Over-fill protection cord is to be returned to holder and cord
wrapped up after every use.
• Auxiliary heater, diesel or electric must be turned off while
loading.

POLICIES
Site Specific Policies (4 of 5)
Brakes must be set at all times.
Seat belts to be worn any time truck is in motion.
Maintain 3 point contact when entering / exiting truck cab.
Smoking in designated areas only.
Under site security policy all vehicles entering/exiting terminal
facility are subject to search and inspection.
On-site speed limit is 20 KM/H MAXIMUM.
All electrical accessories and lights turned off while loading,
includes warning lights ( anti lock brake failure light ).
Dispose of used absorbent in approved containers at North
end of load racks. Garbage only in garbage cans.
If there is lightning in the area shut down and wait 30 minutes
until clear to begin loading.
Cell phones and electrical items are not to be used or carried
at the loading rack. They must remain in the truck turned off.

Site Specific Policies (5 of 5)
• During winter season, if area is snowed in or slippery, may
need to wait for snow removal equipment. Sand and shovels
are available at the load rack.
• Prior to arriving at terminal trailer / unit must be inspected to
ensure unit is free from damage and in good working
condition.
• Driver is responsible to ensure that trailer test date’s (VIPK)
are current. Trailers that have expired dates will not be
allowed to loaded. Trailers that have loaded with expired
dates will not be allowed to leave.
• Driver has full responsibility for loading. Must ensure
compartment capacity is enough to hold volume selected.
Over fill sensor hit is treated as an incident and must be
reported and investigated.
• Vehicles are not allowed to be left running unattended.
You are responsible for the condition of your truck and load!

Site Specific Policies – Progressive Discipline
• Progressive Discipline Policy
– Progressive Discipline Policy will be reviewed during driver orientation.
Drivers are expected and required to meet our standards.
– Compliance to our standards is measured during in person and video
driver observations, driver reporting and incident investigation
– Opportunities for improvement will be discussed but depending on
seriousness of issue discipline can range from written warning to
permanent loss of site access.

Site Specific Policies – Driver Training
• Driver Training
– Drivers must complete Online/CD-ROM training before beginning
training loads at terminal.
– 10 training loads required for drivers that are currently not CPPI
certified.
– Drivers currently loading elsewhere that have current CPPI will require 3
training loads.
– Drivers will need to complete additional 10 training loads for the
following products: Ethanol offload / Aviation Products (AvGas/Jet A1)
– Carriers will need to provide or arrange for drivers to provide training.
– Specific loading procedures for use of MultiLoad units is posted at each
load rack and will be discussed during training and orientation.

Site Specific Policies – Pail Use
• Pail use policy
– Pail drain all compartments prior to loading. If unable to pail drain do not
load. Have couplers inspected for damage.
– Checks pails for signs of damage. Do not use if damaged.
– Place pail under trailer connection, ensure pail is bonded, ensure
internal and external valves are closed and remove dust cap slowly to
catch drips.
– Open internal and with pail beneath manifold slowly open API valve to
pail drain compartment.
– Do not fill pail over 75%
– Pail must be emptied immediately after use. Bond pail to disposal funnel
when emptying.
– Clean API coupler prior to connecting load arms.
– NO garbage or other waste to be placed in disposal funnels

POLICIES
Site Specific Policies – Spill Issues
• Spill pans and pails
– If trailer/unit is equipped with spill trays below manifold pails are still
required to be used. Spill pan valve to be closed or capped.
– Pail used to complete pail draining of compartments.
– Pails must be in place ready for use if a spill occurs.
– Pails does not need to be placed beneath spill pan valve unless it is
being drained
– Spill pans must be kept clean at all times. Drivers will not be allowed to
leave with product in pans.
• Reporting and clean-up
– All spills regardless of size need to be cleaned up and reported.
– Absorbent is provided in the green bins at the North end of the loading
racks. Incident Reporting forms are located in the drivers room.

POLICIES
Site Specific Policies - PPE
• Personal Protective Equipment
All personnel loading or off-loading are required to wear the minimum PPE
as indicated.
– Approved safety glasses with permanently affixed side shields.
– Approved safety boots with heel ( Shoe style not allowed ).
– Fire retardant ( FRC ) coveralls or shirt and pant. Long sleeves.
Outmost layer must always be FRC and includes jackets, hoodies, rain
gear and winter hard hat liners. Must be clean and in good condition.
– Proper gloves to protect against cut and abrasions and the fuel/additive
to be handled.
– Proper PPE must be worn when exiting truck at load racks.
• Other PPE
– Chemical splash goggles for off-loading ethanol
– Cartridge respirator for top loading. Must be trained in proper use of this
equipment. To be provided by carrier.

POLICIES
Site Specific Policies - Security
• Site Security
– Site security must be maintained at all times. Follow gate policy. Always
allow gate to close fully behind your vehicle before proceeding when
entering and exiting. Watch to ensure no one follows you through.
– Report all suspicious activity to terminal staff or to TOU if terminal is
unstaffed.
– Terminal is monitored through video surveillance system.
– When exiting driver room driver must badge in at gate to allow for reentry into the yard. Do not open the gate for anyone including other
drivers and persons known to you.
– If unsafe actions are seen on the site please report. Reporting can be in
person, by incident report or anonymously. You may also report
concerns to your carrier to be reported to the terminal
