Past Perfect
употребляется для выражения:
• действия, которое произошло раньше
другого действия в прошлом,
выраженного формой Past Simple:
When I phoned Tom,
he had gone out. ( Когда я позвонил
Тому, его уже не было)
• действия, которое закончилось к
определенному моменту в прошлом:
She had finished the experiment
by Saturday. (Она закончила
эксперимент к субботе)
