Ternopil Castle
was built in 1548 to
protect against Crimean Tatar invaders.
It was built together with the dambridge, which formed the Ternopil Pond.
On the other side, it was protected by
the river Rudka. The castle was often
destroyed, and in 1675 it was even
burned down.

3. Tokiv Castle

. Tokiv Castle (Ozhigovetsky Castle) is an architectural monument of
local importance, a defensive structure in the village of Toky,
Pidvolochysky district, Ternopil region. It is located on the top of a
stone hill, on an island (now a peninsula), surrounded on all sides by a
wide pond formed on the old course of the Zbruch river. It was built
at the end of the 16th century by the Bratslav voivode, Janusz
Zbarazki. The construction of the castle, which was of strategic
importance, is mentioned in historical sources of the late 16th and
early 17th centuries. The area itself seemed to invite the
construction of a fortification above Zbruch, which would serve as a
reliable defense against enemies. To give the building power and
impregnability
