Gerundial ConstructionsLike any construction the Gerundial construction consists of two elements - the nominal
and the verbal one expressed by the Gerund;
Noun / Pronoun (in the possessive or common case) + Gerund.
The nominal element can be expressed in three ways:
1)By a possessive pronoun.
It resulted in his being arrested. - Это закончилось тем, что его арестовали.
2)By a noun in the Possessive case.
I insist on our customer's being invited to this discussion. - Я настаиваю на том,
чтобы нашего клиента пригласили на обсуждение.
3)By a noun in the Common case.
I hate animals being treated cruelly. - Я ненавижу, когда с животными жестоко
обращаются.

1) Noun + Participle I/II (+ ...)

sentence

Absolute Participial Construction(or the Nominative Absolute Construction)
Noun/Pronoun (in common case) + Participle I/II, + Main
Clause
It's
a special phrase that gives additional information about the situation in the main
clause (like time, reason, or condition), but it has its own subject, which is different from
the subject of the main sentence. Because of this, it is grammatically separate or
'absolute'.
· The weather being bad, the flight was
delayed.
· She ran out, her eyes full of tears.
