THE MAIN ELEMENTS OF MEN'S COSTUME• Short trousers (pantaloons). Most often, they were tied below the knees with
a colored cord, but sometimes they were buttoned.
• A white shirt (camisa) with an attached sleeve. It was often decorated with
embroidery.
• A short jacket (giacca) or a sleeveless jacket (panchotto).
• Headwear. Hats of various styles depending on the region, a bag-shaped beret
(berretto), and a Phrygian cap.

CURRENT TRENDS• Despite globalization, Italian designers often draw inspiration from
the national costume, using characteristic elements such as
embroidery, lace, and rich fabrics in their collections. The national
costume is still worn for festivals, weddings, and other cultural
events.
• In the mountainous regions of Sicily and Sardinia, traditional
costumes can still be found today.
